Three people arrested in possession of banned pharmaceuticals in Tanahun

DAMAULI: Police arrested three youths for possession of banned pharmaceuticals in Aanbukhaireni-3 Rural Municipality of Tanahun District on Tuesday evening.

The Tanahun District Police Office (DPO) identified those arrested as Umesh Khadka (22) and Utsav Khadka (26), both residents of Aanbukhaireni-3 and Janak Shrestha (22) of Palungtar municipality- 8 in Gorkha district, currently residing in Aanbukhaireni- 3.

Acting on a denunciation, a team of police officers deployed from the regional police office based in Aanbukhaireni, under the command of Inspector Buddhi Prasad Subedi raided Umesh Khadka’s rented room on the Thado line and l ‘stopped with 1,535 Trauma tablets, 1,672 Decough tablets, 14 ampoules of each Diazepam, Phenergan and Nurofen, five cell phones, and Rs 32,050 cash hidden in the room, informed the head of the DPO, the commissioner of police (SP) Binod Silwal.

Police had to question arrested person Umesh to find out the whereabouts of two other members of the racketeering before arresting them the same day.

Meanwhile, those arrested have been charged with an offense under the Narcotics (Control) Act 2033 (1976), and further investigation into the case is underway, SP SIlwal said.

Recently, police have stepped up their vigilance, security checks and patrols after reporting an increase in smuggling activity in the area, police said.
